the three holiday houses in niseko

The three holiday houses in Niseko are gracefully situated on a slope that offers breathtaking views of Mount Yotei. As the architect for this project, I adhered to one of our core design principles: “adaptation.” Our primary goal was not to create iconic structures, but to seamlessly integrate the architecture into the stunning natural landscape.

To achieve this, we constructed the houses using timber, emphasizing a traditional pitch roof design that complements the surrounding environment. We carefully considered the proportions and scale of the windows to enhance both the functionality of the spaces and the panoramic views of the majestic mountain.

The choice of timber reflects the colors of the nearby trees, ensuring a harmonious connection with nature. This thoughtful approach allows the houses to blend beautifully with their surroundings, creating a tranquil retreat that feels like an extension of the landscape itself. Each element of the design has been meticulously crafted to celebrate the serene beauty of Niseko, offering guests a peaceful escape in a stunning setting.
